Why doesn’t Rock Prodigy recognize the notes I play?

Rock Prodigy’s pitch detection technology is powered by a number of highly tuned algorithms and is sensitive to many variables involved in the actual production of pitch (e.g., different guitars, string gauges, pick-ups, instrument interfaces). The good news is we at Rock Prodigy have played and tested Rock Prodigy with about every guitar and configuration you could think of so odds are there’s an easy fix.

Before anything else, make sure your volume is turned up and any cables are properly connected.

Additionally, there are a few tips we have found that can improve the detection accuracy:

  • The first one is that the “pickup position” on the guitar can make a big difference.
  • Selecting the bridge pick-up (switch to furthest down position) often works best. Also, make sure to turn the volume AND tone knobs are all the way up.
  • Another thing to keep in mind is to be aware of how hard you are pressing down on the strings. Pressing too hard can cause the notes to go sharp.

iOS 7 asks if you want to allow Rock Prodigy to access the microphone and you need to say "yes" and allow it. Here are the steps to enable the mic. 1. Tap Settings 2. Tap Privacy 3. Tap Microphone 4. Turn Rock Prodigy "On" 5. Launch Rock Prodigy
